GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY

On the evening of May 12, 2017 I returned home from managing an event at the Thomas J. Sullivan Banquet Hall. At some point during the night, I suffered a seizure as I slept on the couch.

I woke up the following day feeling ill and confused. After going to the emergency room at Baystate Medical Center and after many tests were conducted they discovered a mass in my brain.  I underwent surgery to remove a tumor from my brain and received regular radiation and chemotherapy to combat my diagnosis: grade 3 anaplastic oligodendroglioma, an aggressive brain tumor.

This May 2024 I will have reached 7 years cancer free with no tumor regrowth! I will have scans for the rest of my life to monitor where the tumor once was and make sure nothing new decides to grow back.

My hope with these fundraisers for the D’Amour Center for Cancer Care is give back to the establishment that saved my life. I want people to enjoy themselves and try to forget about all the constant worries that come along with cancers. I try to live each day and not worry about what tomorrow holds! Stressing about something you have no control over can eat you alive. I try to stay as healthy as I can and hope that this cancer will stay away forever!
